Starting Strong: US propaganda about the fun, glamour and benefits of joining the Army

in 16 markets and on army.com’s YouTube channel, June 2, 2013. (Photo courtesy the Army Marketing
 and Research Group)

‘STARTING STRONG’ GIVES ARMY PROSPECTS A TASTE OF SOLDIERING
STORY BY THE ARMY MARKETING AND RESEARCH GROUP

"With the number of pre-recording services and commercial-free media options, traditional television commercials no longer reach key audiences as they did in the past, according to Mark S. Davis, deputy assistant secretary of the Army for marketing. In addition, research has shown that the Army’s recruiting demographic of 18-24-year-olds uses media differently.

Given that challenge, the Army Marketing and Research Group began exploring new and innovative ways to engage prospects and their influencers with content that realistically portrays the Army, Army life and the benefits of service. (emphasis added)

“We have always known that our Soldiers are the best advertisement for our Army,” Davis said. “But it is difficult to show the lifelong benefits of joining the Army team while countering the many myths about our Army in a 30-second commercial. We needed a new approach that allowed a deeper and unscripted discussion with our key audiences.”

Starting June 2, viewers will be able to see the result. “Starting Strong,” a 10-episode, long-form commercial, will be broadcast in 16 markets and available nationwide on goarmy.com’s YouTube channel.

“Starting Strong” gives civilians interested in becoming Soldiers the chance to live and breathe a military occupational specialty for a week with an Army mentor and actual Soldiers, to determine if Army life is for them. At the conclusion of each episode, the prospect is asked if he or she wants to join the Army.

“Starting Strong” will air Sunday mornings, June 2-Aug. 4, on FOX affiliates in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas-Fort Worth, Boston, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Detroit, Phoenix, Tampa, Minneapolis, Orlando, Austin, Memphis and Gainesville. Check local listings for times.

After each airing, full episodes will be at http://www.youtube.com/goarmyvideos , while five-minute webisodes will be available on the goarmy.com “Starting Strong” page"

Nobel Prize in Medicine Richard Roberts: Drugs to chronify and not heal

Nobel Prize Richard Roberts interview to Lluís Amiget.

"Because drug companies often are not as interested in healing you as in getting your money, so that investigation, suddenly, is diverted to the discovery of drugs that do not heal completely, but chronify the disease and make you experience an improvement that disappears when you stop taking the drug."

"I’m 63 years old: the worst about getting older is that you consider many “truths” as holy: that’s when you need new questions. I was born in Derby, my mechanic father gave me a chemistry set … and I still enjoy playing. Married, four children, one quadriplegic by an accident, which keep me encouraged to continue investigating. I participate in the Campus for Excellence.

- Can research be planned?

If I were Minister of Science, I would seek enthusiastic people with interesting projects, just give them money so they wouldn’t need to do anything else than investigate and let them work ten years to surprise us.

- It seems like a good policy.

It is generally believed that to go very far, you have to support basic research, but if you want more immediate and profitable results, you must bet on the applied research …

- And is it not like this?

Often the most profitable discoveries have been made from very basic questions. So was created the giant U.S. biotech billion-dollar industry where I work.

- How was it created?

Biotechnology appeared when passionate people started to wonder if they could clone genes and began to study and try to purify them.

- An adventure by itself!

Yes, but nobody expected to get rich with these questions. It was difficult to get funding to research the answers until Nixon launched the war against cancer in 1971.

- Was it scientifically productive?

It allowed much research (like mine), with an enormous amount of public funds, that didn’t work directly against cancer, but was useful for understanding the mechanisms that allow life.

- What did you discover?

Phillip Allen Sharp and I were rewarded by the discovery of introns in eukaryotic DNA and gene splicing mechanism.

- For what was it useful?

That discovery led to understand how DNA works, however, has only an indirect link with cancer.

- Which model seems more effective research for you, the American or the European?

It’s obvious that the U.S., where private capital has an active role, is much more efficient. Take for example the spectacular progress of the computer industry, where private money financed basic and applied research, but for the health industry … I have my reservations.

- I see.

Research on human health cannot depend only on its profitability. What’s good for the corporate dividends is not always good for people.

- Could you explain?

Pharmaceutical industry wants to serve the capital markets …

- As any other industry

It’s just not any other industry, we are talking about our health and our lives and our children and millions of human beings.

- But if they are profitable, they will research better.

If you only think about benefits, you stop worrying about serving people.

- For instance?

I’ve seen that in some cases researchers dependent on private funds would have discovered a very effective medicine that would have completely eliminated a disease …

- And why do they stop investigating?

Because drug companies often are not as interested in healing you as in getting your money, so that investigation, suddenly, is diverted to the discovery of drugs that do not heal completely, but chronify the disease and make you experience an improvement that disappears when you stop taking the drug.

- It’s a serious accusation.

It is usual that pharmaceutical companies are interested in research that doesn’t cure but only make illnesses chronic with more profitable drugs that the ones that would completely cure once and forever. You just need to follow the financial analysis of the pharmaceutical industry and verify what I say.

- There are killing dividends.

That’s why we say that health cannot be a market and cannot be understood merely as a means of earning money. And I think that the European model of mixed private and public capital is less likely to encourage such abuses.

- An example of such abuse?

Investigations with antibiotics have been stopped because they were too effective and completely cured. As no new antibiotics have been developed, infectious organisms have become resistant and today tuberculosis, which in my childhood had been defeated, reappears and has killed this past year a million people.

- Are you talking about the Third World?

That is another sad chapter: Third World diseases are hardly investigated, because the drugs that would fight them are unprofitable. But I’m talking about our First World: the medicine that completely heals is not profitable and therefore is not researched.

- Don’t get politicians involved?

Don’t get too excited: in our system, politicians are mere employees of big companies, who invest what is necessary so that “their kids” get elected, and if they are not elected, they buy those who were elected.
Money and big companies are only interested in multiply. Almost all politicians – and I know what I mean, depend shamelessly on these multinational pharmaceutical companies that fund their campaigns. The rest are words …

A little known Robin Wiliams Story by Perry Marshall

A Little Known Robin Williams Story
Perry Marshall

“Years ago I learned a very cool thing about Robin Williams, and I couldn’t watch a movie of his afterward without thinking of it. I never actually booked Robin Williams for an event, but I came close enough that his office sent over his rider.

For those outside of the entertainment industry, a rider lists out an artist’s specific personal and technical needs for hosting them for an event- anything from bottled water and their green room to sound and lighting requirements. You can learn a lot about a person from their rider. This is where rocks bands list their requirement for green M&Ms (which is actually a surprisingly smart thing to do).

This is also where a famous environmentalist requires a large gas-guzzling private jet to fly to the event city, but then requires an electric or hybrid car to take said environmentalist to the event venue when in view of the public.

When I got Robin Williams’ rider, I was very surprised by what I found. He actually had a requirement that for every single event or film he did, the company hiring him also had to hire a certain number of homeless people and put them to work.

I never watched a Robin Williams movie the same way after that. I’m sure that on his own time and with his own money, he was working with these people in need, but he’d also decided to use his clout as an entertainer to make sure that production companies and event planners also learned the value of giving people a chance to work their way back.

I wonder how many production companies continued the practice into their next non-Robin Williams project, as well as how many people got a chance at a job and the pride of earning an income, even temporarily, from his actions.

He was a great multiplier of his impact. Let’s hope that impact lives on without him. Thanks, Robin Williams- not just for laughs, but also for a cool example.”

Robert Fisk talks about covering wars insurgencies and massacres

Right: 04/04/2008 - Robert Fisk, the iconic Middle East correspondent for the Independent, talks about his reporting career spanning three decades.

Fisk has reported from the Middle East for more than 31 years -- during which time he has covered 11 major wars as well as countless insurgencies and massacres.

He holds more British and international awards than any other foreign correspondent and is the author of the critically acclaimed The Great War for Civilisation: the Conquest of the Middle East, an eyewitness history of the region's tragedy.

His latest book, The Age of the Warrior, is a collection of his Saturday columns for the Independent, which allows him to "speak out against the fraud and injustice of a world in which consent has become automatic". It covers issues ranging from the Middle East to the use and misuse of words, and the influence of cinema and novels on our age.

Left:Robert Fisk, award-winning journalist and Middle East Correspondent for The Independent newspaper, gave the annual faculty-appointed Center for International and Regional Studies (CIRS) Distinguished Lecture on April 20, 2010 on the subject of "State of Denial: Western Journalism and the Middle East." Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Qatar (GU-Q) student Amna Al-Thani introduced Fisk to a capacity audience of 800 guests at the Four Seasons Hotel in Doha.

"War represents the total faillure of the human spirit."

Dior Capture Totale foundation claims to reverse time

This is the description of the foundation in Dior's site:

What else you need to know:
This revolutionary formula works, in part, thanks to a broad band of multitoned pigments that create a more subtle, real, and natural effect than the four-part pigment palette (red/yellow/white/black) usually used in foundation. Capture Totale Foundation also treats all the signs of aging, supports natural collagen, nourishes, replenishes, and visibly plumps skin. It's ideal for mature skin, dry skin, or dull skin that lacks radiance. (emphasis added)"

This is how it is described in the online shops:

"Reduce the signs of aging while giving your skin a healthy, beautiful glow with Capture Totale triple-correcting serum foundation by Dior. The foundation is formulated to smooth wrinkles, erase dark spots and restore radiance to your skin for a youthful, healthy complexion." (emphasis added)

Whenever I come across with products that claim what they cannot do I ask myself why do companies do it and how can it be that some people believe it. It is beyond my comprehension and the price of products that use this kind of appeal is usually obscene.

I did read some costumer's reviews in online shops and frustration is the result for many people that are angry because they payed a lot of money for a foundation that doesn't work neither as a skincare product nor as a foundation.

I didn't know that a brand like Dior uses this kind of tactics to sell products.
It is up to the costumers to research, try the product and buy only after analyzing it in all aspects even for the high end brands.
I was thinking about trying Dior's Airflash - extremely expensive - but I love ethics. For me it is unethical promising to  reverse time with a foundation. It is make-up. Just Make-up. People go to dermatologists and make all kind of treatments in search for a better skin.
It is not up to makeup to "treat" the skin.

There is a good article "False Cosmetic Claims" that costumers should read.

Foundation Tips by Lisa Eldedridge: costumers' right to samples and refund

In Lisa Eldedridge YouTube channel there is a lot of good information about makeup and in this video she gives seven tips about foundations being one of them how to purchase it.
As we live in a era where it seems all our rights were withdrew I think that this tip is a very good one:

04:06   Tip number 6: Be a savvy shopper

"When you go shopping for foundation ask nicely for samples, I know that in some countries it is impossible to get a sample but ask, at least ask. If you can find the manager... ask someone nice you can ask. Because most companies have samples, lots of companies have samples so, ask the right person to help you. If you can at least try to get a sample it will be helpful. If you can't have a sample than know your rights.
Check what the policy is, the return policy. Can you return it if it is the wrong shade... go out into daylight after you tried it on the counter don't buy it straight away.
Go out outside the store with a mirror to look in the daylight... be as a savviest as you possibly can.
When buying online, if you have to buy online check again what the return policy is.
Are they going to let you send it back and get a full refund or are they going to let you change for another color? Check your rights.
Don't be afraid to ask. Be confident. You're the person with the money, you are buying the foundation, you hold the cash.
Have confidence. Make sure that you ask and receive."

This is the sample of Lancôme Visionnaire foundation. I sent them a request for a sample. Let's see what the answer will be.

It is not necessary to be a very elaborate sample.
Sachets would do. Buying online is becoming more and more frequent and it is impossible to choose the right foundation without testing it.

Is it so hard to understand that? There are  lots of costumers that bought a very expensive product and the shade was not the right one, the texture... name it.
Even buying in physical stores we make mistakes.
I did one: I bought a Clinique foundation and when I got home I realized that it was not the right color and that it accentuated all the problems I have.

I  phoned the Costumer care and they are refunding me. I was amazed by the kind way they treated me and I'll write a post about how things were done. I don't know if I'll have cash refund or  products.
We have to fight for our rights.
I also had a great experience with Maybelline but this will be my next post.
Be a savvy shopper!

Shiseido: I found the foundation

I said here that I'm starting to be interested in makeup and that finding the right foundation is extremely hard.

Yesterday I found Shiseido' Radiant Lifting foundation color 160  and I loved it.

The price is obscene.and I thought, and thought... and thought - "how can it be that a foundation costs almost half the price of the minimum wage?" - said my conscious side while the shallow side answered: "but is is your face and it looks very good".

I got out of the shop and walked in circles around the mall... I could only think about the foundation.
"Ok! I'll buy it. Fukitol!"

These are my first impressions about this foundation since today is the first day I'm wearing it.
The best thing about this foundation is that it evens the skin and gives it a glow but it feels like we are not wearing a foundation. The color is perfect for my skin and it does not have either a yellow or a pink undertone. The color looks natural.

If you like matte foundation this is not the one for you since it is creamy which makes it easy to apply and a tiny drop covers all the face.
I apply translucent or a very thin fair colored powder on the T-zone so that it doesn't look oily.
My skin is dry and most foundations available on the market are for oily skin.

I was trying  Lancôme Teint Visionnaire foundation and I liked it a lot but I was not sure about the concealer that comes with it. So the girl who was helping me brought Shiseido's and I did choose it but maybe, I would have to try again, Lancôme's gives the exact amount of glow that doesn't require powder.

Shideido's Radiant Lifting claims a lot of things:

  • "Smooth Wrap Oil and Hydroxyproline provide abundant moisture to the help counteract wrinkles and firm the skin"

I loved the foundation but please don't tell me that it will help my skin go back in time. It is a foundation, just a foundation and this is what I was looking for. Radiant "Lifting"? I want my money back because it is not happening and I'm pretty sure that as time goes by things will keep aging.
Aging is part of life and not a disease.
Why can't we age in peace and without all these traumas?
A lot of things are constantly surrounding our minds to make us feel insecure and unhappy about our appearance during our entire life.
We have to do our best but not extremely vigilant or we'll never be at peace with our bodies.

Lost in the makeup world

Finding the best foundation is not easy and the right color is part of the problem. I'm amazed with the amount of brands available on the market.

In some countries, like in Brazil, the purchase of some brands has to be done online because those makeup shops that were all over the town have almost disappeared. The prize when converted to Brazilian currency is "obscene" but some women consume it in a  compulsive way. buy and buy...
I don't think any woman needs more than two good foundations - I'm still trying to find them - and two BB creams.

For the moment I'm using L'oreal and Nivea BB creams and Maybelline Super Stay 24 shade classic beige medium.  I heard that! "Oh! drugstore makeup?" Yes, why not? I bought an expensive Clinique one but the light of the store was no good. I tried it for four days applying in different ways and tried to correct the color with powder and it didn't work. I phoned Clinique and they were kind enough to refund me. That made more afraid of buying something that doesn't work.
Samples? No. There is not such a thing so people think it is normal to spend a lot of money in a product that they'll not use.

There is one Sephora store and even there are some good brands missing.
For the moment I'm giving up. I feel strange in Sephora watching women hypnotized by the products as if they were a kind of miraculous potions and after using it three times something new is needed.
I don't have a fetishist relation with makeup. It is just as another tool.

World Cup 2014: Neymar faked injury

Did Neymar fake or not being injured during Brazil vs Colombia game?
In this video we can see the moment Neymar is injured by Zuniga and prior to that both of them talking to each other. There are numerous videos in Portuguese but not a single one in English but you can see in this one what has happened.

Neymar starts running and Zuniga goes after him and push him.
As FIFA is not committed to investigate or make things transparent numerous accidents like this will be in the list of suspicious cases.
As always money is the cause of lack of ethics, integrity and justice.

Celebrities without makeup by Wayne Goss "They are just like you and me"

I've been watching Wayne Goss videos because I would like to learn how to apply makeup. It's not easy to find the right products, the colors... sometimes I feel like giving up.

There are millions of videos of girls making tutorials and explaining but when you do it>" FAIL"
.
Wayne Goss is an "independent" professional, meaning he has no ties with industries, and he gives great tips that helps a lot. He is not compliant and is always ready to say what he really thinks.

I decided to share this video for the same reason Wayne did it: to remind us that they look gorgeous because they are wearing makeup.

I'll not even talk about the surgeries and all the treatments they are submitted for this is another topic and as we have being exposed to so many faces with muscles that don't move and lips that all of a sudden get fuller it is a little obvious.
This is not about judging people - men do them two - for doing it all. It is about raising awareness that we should not feel bad about ourselves because we're not size 0 (zero) and our face and body are... normal.

We must not feel insecure about our natural ugliness. Mankind has always created ideals to be achieved so we can assume that it is part of human condition feeling ugly.
I'm ugly and I'm proud!

York/Paris/London Fashion Week 2014-2015

"Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months"
Oscar Wilde

I don't know what is wrong with me but whenever I take a glimpse to Fashion events I laugh picturing myself wearing what they show in my daily routine.

The second strange thing for me about these fashion hysterically loved events is that nobody dares saying anything other them praising everything. Nobody question anything.

They are so skinny that maybe this is why they don't smile and now I'm asking myself if the reason they walk till a moment and all of a sudden go back is lack of energy to go futther.

They go back to have whatever they take -some have cocaine = to stand all the ordeal of being prepared for the show and all the effort to maintain their career.
I wonder what Coco is thinking about her name becoming a brand and all the consequences it represents.

Let's wait six months and hope for the better!

Silence in Chinese

I'm taking a break from blogging so I'm silent here. This is a beautiful word and I started thinking about it and found Silence in Chinese:

this is for the case silence means: quiet, still, silent, stillness, silence, quietness, quietude.

At the page there are others for the cases:

Chinese translations for quietly, softly, gently, faintly, silently, quiet, silence, calm, peace.

Chinese translations for noiseless, quiet, silent, voiceless, breathed, mute, noiselessly, quietly, aphonia, silence.

Now I'm feeling sleepy. That's all.
I'll be back as soon as I awake.

ISIS funds from America by Stephen Lendman

I use to copy articles from sites like Globalresearch where great analysts expose what the mainstream media hides and people who write about "forbidden truths", so to speak, explain what is really happening.

It is out of the planet for me that the vast majority of people follow the mainstream media and believe in whatever they say. Usually there are those ready to call works from people like Stephen Lendman as "conspiracy theories" to put it in discredit.
They still do not understand who is doing the conspiracy theories most of the time.
Anyway: we have to try to make people see. Telling what they hide is revolutionary.

The Forbidden Truth: Islamic State (ISIS) Recruiter Admits Getting Funds from America
by Stephen Lendman
Source: Global Research:

Call it one of many US dirty secrets. Washington covertly recruits, funds, arms, trains, and directs extremist Islamic State and other Takfiri terrorists.

The same ones it lies about waging war on. Uses them as proxies against its adversaries.

Notably during Obama’s tenure against Libya’s Gaddafi. Currently against Assad in Syria. Ahead against future enemies to be named later.

Iran very much in Washington’s cross hairs. Longstanding US regime change plans remain firm.

RT International, Fars News and LiveLeak reported the same story.

Calling Yousaf Al Salafi an IS Pakistani commander.

In detention in Pakistan, he admitted getting funds from America. On January 22, he and two associates were arrested in Lahore, said AFP.

According to the English language newspaper The Express Tribune:

“During investigations, (Al Salafi) revealed that he was getting funding – routed through America – to run an organization in Pakistan and recruit young people to fight in Syria.”

The information came from its sister Urdu language Daily Express. From a source close to Pakistan’s investigation on condition of anonymity. Saying Al Salafi was arrested in December.

Admitted getting $600 per recruit. Worked with at least one accomplice. Reportedly a Pakistani imam. According to the unnamed source:

“The US has been condemning the IS activities but unfortunately has not been able to stop funding of these organizations, which is being routed through the US.”

“The US had to dispel the impression that it is financing the group for its own interests, and that is why it launched offensive (actions) against the organization in Iraq but not in Syria.”

Its oil facilities, infrastructure, grain silos and other non-military sites are targeted. Scores of civilians were killed.

IS fighters remain largely unscathed. New ones enter Syria through Turkey, Jordan and Israel’s Golan.

According to a Pakistani security source, recruiting IS fighters “was raised several several times (by) local media” reports.

“(E)ven in the diplomatic corridors between US and Pakistan…(M)edia reporters here suggest(ed) that hundreds of recruits have been exported from Pakistan.”

The issue was discussed with John Kerry on his recent Islamabad visit.

“The matter was also taken up with CENTCOM (US Central Command) chief, General Lloyd Austin, during his visit to Islamabad earlier this month,” an unnamed source said.

Reuters was told Al Salafi is a Pakistani-Syrian. Came to Pakistan via Turkey. Arrived five months ago. Established a Pakistani-based IS group.

Local media report growing internal IS influence. Citing incidents in Lahore and Multan. Where IS flags and graffiti are clearly visible.

Last year, Obama began bombing claimed IS sites in Iraq and Syria. Washington wants unchallenged regional control.

Fear-mongering is longstanding US practice. Obama nonsensically calls IS “unique…If left unchecked, these terrorists could pose a growing threat beyond (the) region, including to the United States,” he claims.

Washington’s objectives include controlling regional oil. Installing pro-Western puppet regimes.

Balkanizing Iraq into the Kurdish north, Baghdad center and Basra south. Controlling the country more effectively this way.

Ousting Assad. Eliminating a key Israeli rival. Replacing him with a US-friendly stooge. Isolating Iran. Its turn awaits US regime change plans.

America’s dark side threatens world peace. Obama wants congressional authority for unconstrained war. Billions of dollars in funding.

America’s longstanding business is war. Obama calls it US “leadership.” International law calls it naked aggression.

Based on Big Lies. With no just cause. No existential or other threats. No legal standing regardless of congressional action.

Security Council members alone may authorize war. Every US post-WW II one was illegal. Including ongoing direct and proxy ones. New ones planned.

War is America’s strategy of choice. Permanent ones. Dirty ones. Waged without mercy. Against nations US forces can easily roll over.

How many more countries will America ravage and destroy? How many more victims will die?

Wars won”t end when Obama leaves office. Whoever replaces him will continue them seamlessly. Wage new ones.

Expect no end to mass slaughter and destruction. Not as long as lunatics run the Washington asylum.

The only solution is nonviolent revolution. The alternative is continued death, destruction and growing homeland repression.

Tyranny by any standard. Masquerading as democracy works only for so long. America’s dark side is to ugly to hide.

Jennifer Lopez Booty's reveals she is just another clone

It was sad watching Jennifer Lopez showing her worse side last year. People are tired of the music industries are imposing and artists should start thinking twice before committing themselves to some of their wishes.

Compromising is never the right answer for those who really want to create... art;
There are so many clones! When was the last time you saw something you said: "OH! This is really amazing!" Don't you miss the real "divas"?

A Timeline: Where did the Paris Shooters Get Their Weapons? by Tony Cartalucci

It never fails: sensationalist events always help the propaganda Washington and allies want. Goebbels must be applauding.
In this article published in Globalresearch Tony Cartalucci shows how the weapons go to the hands of the "fanatics". People believe what the mainstream media tell and the truth is "Islam is all about crazy people who have nothing better to do in life than killing in the most barbaric way."

Washington and allies have clean hands, don't they?.

"Heavily armed, well-trained gunmen executed what appears to be a well-planned attack in Paris, France, killing 12, including 2 police officers. Where did these terrorists get their weapons, training, political backing, funds, and inspiration? A short timeline featuring news stories from 2011 to 2014 helps explain how France’s recent national tragedy could have been the direct result of its own insidious, callous, terroristic foreign policy that has visited this very same carnage seen in Paris, upon the people of Libya and Syria, a thousand fold.
2011 - France supplying weapons to Libyan rebels, London Telegraph:
A French military spokesman, Colonel Thierry Burkhard, said it had provided “light arms such as assault rifles” for civilian communities to “protect themselves against Col Gaddafi”.
But the decision to arm the rebels is a further move towards direct involvement in the land war on top of the air war against Col Muammar Gaddafi. The Nafusa rebels have come closest to breaking through to Tripoli itself of any of the front lines of the conflict, while three months of Nato bombing have failed to dislodge Col Gaddafi from power.
Le Figaro, the French newspaper which first reported the air drops, said the shipment included rifles, machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades, along with Milan anti-tank missiles.
Abdel-Hakim al-Hasidi, the Libyan rebel leader, has said jihadists who fought against allied troops in Iraq are on the front lines of the battle against Muammar Gaddafi’s regime.
France’s foreign minister has said he will discuss supplying arms to the Syrian opposition coalition with European partners.
The government plans to push for a relaxation of the EU arms embargo to Syria to enable “defensive arms” to reach opposition fighters.
France and Britain have moved a step closer to arming the opposition to the Assad regime in a radical move aimed at tipping the balance in the two-year civil war while also ignoring European policy on Syria.
The French president, François Hollande, went into an EU summit in Brussels with a dramatic appeal for Europe to join Paris and London in lifting a European arms embargo, but the sudden policy shift was certain to run into stiff German opposition.
A Syrian rebel group’s April pledge of allegiance to al-Qaeda’s replacement for Osama bin Laden suggests that the terrorist group’s influence is not waning and that it may take a greater role in the Western-backed fight to topple Syrian President Bashar Assad.
The pledge of allegiance by Syrian Jabhat al Nusra Front chief Abou Mohamad al-Joulani to al-Qaeda leader Sheik Ayman al-Zawahri was coupled with an announcement by the al-Qaeda affiliate in Iraq, the Islamic State of Iraq, that it would work with al Nusra as well.
President Francois Hollande said on Thursday that France had delivered weapons to rebels battling the Syrian regime of Bashar al-Assad “a few months ago.”
France Isn’t the Only One

The cartoonish nature of France first being reported to give weapons to “rebels” before these “rebels” are reported to be, in fact, Al Qaeda is not simply France’s bad luck. It is part of NATO’s very intentional, vast network of global state-sponsored terrorism. It would be reported that terrorists armed by the US in Syria with antitank missiles sided with Al Qaeda franchise and US State Department listed foreign terrorist organization, Al Nusra.
The Daily Beast would report in its  September 2014 article, “Al Qaeda Plotters in Syria ‘Went Dark,’ U.S. Spies Say,” that:
One Syrian rebel group supported in the past by the United States condemned the air strikes on Tuesday. Harakat Hazm, a rebel group that received a shipment of U.S. anti-tank weapons in the spring, called the airstrikes “an attack on national sovereignty” and charged that foreign led attacks only strengthen the Assad regime. The statement comes from a document, purportedly from the group, that has circulated online and was posted in English translation from a Twitter account called Syria Conflict Monitor. Several Syria experts, including the Brookings Doha Center’s Charles Lister, believe the document to be authentic.
Before the official statement, there were signs that Harakat Hazm was making alliances in Syria that could conflict with its role as a U.S. partner. In early Septemeber a Harakat Hazm official told a reporter for the L.A. Times: “Inside Syria, we became labeled as secularists and feared Nusra Front was going to battle us…But Nusra doesn’t fight us, we actually fight alongside them. We like Nusra.”
This group would later be reported by the Western press as having “surrendered” to Al Qaeda. The International Business Times would claim in its article, “Syria: Al-Nusra Jihadists ‘Capture US TOW Anti-Tank Missiles’ from Moderate Rebels,” that:
Weaponry supplied by the US to moderate Syrian rebels was feared to have fallen into the hands of jihadist militants affiliated to al-Qaida after clashes between rival groups.
Islamist fighters with Jabhat al-Nusra seized control of large swathes of land in Jabal al-Zawiya, Idlib province, at the weekend, routing the US-backed groups the Syrian Revolutionaries Front (SFR) and Harakat Hazm, activists said.
Washington relied on SFR and Harakat Hazm to counter Isis (Islamic State) militants on the ground in Syria, complementing its air strikes.
Clearly, Harakat Hazm willingly pledged allegiance to Al Qaeda, bringing with them Western armament. Much of Al Qaeda’s weapons, cash, training, and backing has been supplied by the West through similar “laundering” arrangements – intentionally – with plans to arm Al Qaeda and use it as a mercenary force against Western enemies in the Middle East laid as early as 2007.
Al Qaeda was intentionally organized and directed by the US, Saudi Arabia, and Israel to engage in a regional confrontation aimed at Iran and its powerful arc of influence including Syria, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and now apparently Iraq. A similar gambit played out in North Africa during NATO’s war with Libya. Before that, in the 1980′s, the US CIA notoriously created Al Qaeda in the first place to fight a proxy war against the Soviet Union in Afghanistan.
This most recent use of Al Qaeda was exposed by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Seymour Hersh in his 2007 article,  ”The Redirection: Is the Administration’s new policy benefiting our enemies in the war on terrorism?” it which it was stated explicitly that (emphasis added):
To undermine Iran, which is predominantly Shiite, the Bush Administration has decided, in effect, to reconfigure its priorities in the Middle East. In Lebanon, the Administration has coöperated with Saudi Arabia’s government, which is Sunni, in clandestine operations that are intended to weaken Hezbollah, the Shiite organization that is backed by Iran. The U.S. has also taken part in clandestine operations aimed at Iran and its ally Syria. A by-product of these activities has been the bolstering of Sunni extremist groups that espouse a militant vision of Islam and are hostile to America and sympathetic to Al Qaeda
Now these “extremist groups that espouse a militant vision of Islam” and who are “sympathetic to Al Qaeda” are running loose in France spilling French blood, with and inexhaustible supply of weapons and cash courtesy in part of the French government itself, and with years of combat experience fighting Paris and the rest of NATO’s proxy wars for them everywhere from Libya to Syria."
